Campaign to drive small business sales by fostering card use
The Observatory of Electronic Card payments, under the Ministry of Finance and Competiveness which comprises, amongst others, ServiRED, EURO 6000, merchant associations (CEC and ANGED) and the Bank of Spain, aims to encourage the use of cards as a means of payment and especially in the small business sector.
To this end it has created a campaign with the following chief objectives:
- Grow consumption and increase sales, especially among SMEs in order to further economic growth
- Facilitate card payments and reduce cash transactions for greater business efficiency and convenience for all parties involved
- Boost card payments for consumers, especially those who do not generally use them and for daily payments. Foster card collection by merchants and especially at those smaller points of sale where card use is less frequent.
All this should be undertaken by leveraging the current capillarity and infrastructure of the PoS terminals and cards issued which is among the highest in Europe.
The campaign is aimed both at card holders and merchants by stressing the advantages that cards bring to both groups: convenience, ease of use and security, both in large and smaller purchases, while boosting merchant sales.
