What specific advantages does the Sabadell Online Account offer me as a self-employed person in my everyday life?

The Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account is for the self-employed and offers multiple advantages: 
  • 0 account management or maintenance fees.
  • €120 cashback every year for paying your self-employed social insurance contribution (RETA). This benefit also applies to self-employed workers in the Special Agricultural System and the Special Maritime Scheme.
  • 1 % APR yield for balances of up to a maximum of €20,000. 

  • Free Business debit and credit cards (no issue or maintenance fees) for the main and joint holders. 

  • Free online transfers in Euro within the European Economic Area, except for immediate transfers.

How does Banco Sabadell help me with my self-employed contribution (RETA) payment?

If you set up the payment of the Special Scheme for Self-Employed Workers (RETA) to be direct debited from your Sabadell Online Self-employed Account, we will pay €30 gross each quarter*, which adds up to a total of €120 per year. This benefit also applies to self-employed workers in the Special Agricultural System (SETA) and the Special Maritime Scheme (RETM).
 
*The quarterly incentive is deemed to be investment income included in the savings tax base of personal income tax (IRPF), so it is subject to withholding tax of 19%.

I am starting out as self-employed. What do I need to open this bank account?

The setting up process is 100% online and you will need a mobile phone with a camera. The requirements to open a bank account are the following: being of age, being a new Banco Sabadell customer, and being a tax resident in Spain. During the bank account opening process, we will ask for an ID (DNI/TIE or NIE and passport) and you will need to enter your professional activity's CNAE so that the account is set for that exclusive use.

Does the Sabadell Self-Employed Online Account include personal expenses cards?

Yes. The account comes with a Business debit card and a Business credit card with no issue or maintenance fees. You can use those cards to pay your business expenses with complete peace of mind and make free debit cash withdrawals at all Banco Sabadell ATMs. The granting of the credit card is subject to the Bank’s  risk criteria and its approval, after the relevant risk and viability study has been carried out.

My business needs a POS to accept card payments. What solutions do you offer?

When you open a Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account, you will be able to access solutions for collecting card payments, such as a POS terminal. See here for the options available.

Will I have a personal account manager who understands the needs of a self-employed person?

Yes. When you open the account, you will have a team of experts in self-employment at your disposal, in our more than 1,000 branches or through digital channels. You will also have a personalised helpline available to assist you with day-to-day management.

How do I manage my personal and professional finances? Do I need two separate accounts?

The Sabadell Self-Employed Online Account is exclusively for professional activity. What’s more, as holder of this account, you have the advantage of being able to open a second Sabadell Online Account for your personal finances. The bank will provide the contract for the personal account and the associated debit card so that you can sign it at your leisure online via the application.

How exactly does the 1% APR return on the self-employed account work?

The Sabadell Online Account offers a return of 1% NIR per annum, 1.005% APR. This return is calculated on the average monthly balance you hold in the account, with a maximum balance limit of €20,000 to be interest-bearing. The interest accrued is settled on a monthly basis and credited to the account on a monthly basis, on the 15th day of the following month (or on the first working day before it).

Are there any fees if one month I earn less or have no income?

No. The Sabadell Self-Employed Online Account has no conditions of any kind. This means that there is no minimum balance or regular income or number of transactions required to maintain the account benefits, such as zero management or maintenance fees.

Is it possible to open a Sabadell Self-Employed Online Account with two account holders?

Yes. The account permits a maximum of two holders, but does not accept authorised persons. The registration process can start with one or two account holders. If you select the two account holders option, the first account holder will complete their registration, and the second one will receive an email invite to join and complete their part of the process.

What is the difference between the self-employed social insurance contribution cashback and the bills cashback?

These are two different benefits with two distinct ends:
  • The cashback of up to €120 per annum for the RETA payment is an exclusive benefit of the Sabadell Self-Employed Online Account.
  • The 3% energy and gas bills cashback is an exclusive benefit of the Sabadell Online Account for personal use. If you as a self-employed worker open a personal use account, you will be able to enjoy this benefit.

How can I open the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account?

All you need is your mobile phone, a valid ID card (DNI/TIE with photo) and a good Internet connection. Enter the browser from your mobile phone, access this Banco Sabadell website and click on the “Become a customer” button. Via this link you can register your Sabadell Online Account completely online from your mobile phone.

Where can I register from?

With your mobile phone, using the browser, go to the URL https://www.bancsabadell.com/cuenta-online-autonomos/.

What product can I open with the digital onboarding process?

In the online registration process, you can open the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account (includes the Sabadell Savings Account, whose purpose is savings and investment) and the Sabadell Online Securities Account.

To sign up for any other product not included in the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account pack, you can go to any Banco Sabadell branch.

What information will the Bank give me to open the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account?

During the online registration process, pre-contractual information is provided, which you can download and which will also be sent to your email address so that you can review it at your leisure. The pre-contractual information contains:
  • Pre-contractual information in accordance with banking regulations.
  • Information prospectus prior to entering into a Payment Services Framework Contract.
  • “Fee information sheet” (only applies to the Sabadell Online Personal Account).
  • Annex of Fees and Charges applicable to transfers and cheques through the account.

Why do I have to specify an email address and a mobile phone number in the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account registration process?

All communications and procedures of your Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account will be carried out through digital channels, by email, SMS or push notifications.

What is my user name and password to log into my new Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account?

During the registration process for your Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account, you will be assigned a user name, which will be the ID you used to register, and a password that you can change later from the app or the Banco Sabadell website, which you will use to log into remote banking once your information has been validated.

How can I sign the contract for the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account?

The contract is the last step in the registration process. Through a trusted electronic service provider, you will receive an SMS to the mobile phone you have registered with the password that you have to enter on the screens. You sign the contract using this code. 
This third-party service provider will send you a certified copy of the contract.

By signing the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account contract, am I then a customer of the Bank?

Signing the contract is not sufficient, as when you complete this step, it will be pending validation by the Bank. When it is validated, you will receive a notification that the registration has been successfully completed and the contract is valid.

How long does it take to activate my Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account?

The process is easy, secure and 100% online, which you will be able to complete in 6 simple steps: create a user name, register your personal data, identify yourself by means of a video identification system, state your profession, confirm the card delivery address and sign the contract.

Can I withdraw from the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account contract once it has been signed?

Yes. You can withdraw and cancel the contract free of charge within 14 days of its taking effect without giving any reason and without a penalty. You have to give notice by the deadline indicated via the Bank's Remote Banking service, at its registered offices or corporate centres or branches or by calling the free phone number 900 700 010.

Why can't I upload my ID to continue with opening the account?

Check that the ID document is clearly visible, with no glare or blurred areas.

Why does it say I cannot continue with the process when I try to send the video to identify myself?

Make sure you have a good Internet connection. We recommend connecting to a trusted Wi-Fi network to continue with the process.

Why am I not receiving SMS notifications when I sign the contract?

Wait a moment. Sometimes, the password to sign the contract can take a few minutes.

You can also perform the following checks in this order:

Check that you don't have our number blocked for telephone numbers in this country +34215675 or 215675. In the case of international phone numbers, check that receiving SMS from abroad is not blocked.

Also, check that the device is not in the “do not disturb” or similar mode.

If you have recently done a portability transaction, check with the carrier that the routing to receive SMSs from applications is configured correctly.

If you have a Multi-SIM, tell your carrier that you are not receiving SMS from applications on the SIM you have in your phone, and ask them to configure it so that messages reach you correctly.

If you have a dual SIM card, tell your carrier that you are not receiving SMS messages from apps at the telephone number registered in our systems.

If your carrier is a virtual one, let them know if there are problems in the delivery of SMSs with the network operator and check that there are no coverage issues.

Why am I not receiving SMS notifications when I sign the contract (additional checks)?

If you are still not receiving them, try the following additional checks:

Check that there is sufficient space to receive SMSs and delete old ones.

Check that you have a good signal and you don't have roaming switched on, as the carriers themselves don't guarantee that the SMS will arrive in such circumstances.

There are devices that allow you to mark certain numbers or applications that block calls or SMS messages as undesirable if they are deemed to be advertising or insecure messages. If you have blocked our SMS messages, unblock them.

If the device has space for two SIM cards, try switching the SIM card to the other slot.

Try switching off the device, waiting for 30 seconds, then switching it on again.

Try removing the SIM from the device and putting it into another one.

If you have done all the checks and you still aren't receiving the SMS, contact us again via chat or the indicated telephone number.

Why has the online registration process for the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account halted?

If during the process of filling in and signing the contract for the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account a message appears indicating that the online registration has been halted, we recommend that you try again after a few minutes and check that the information you provide has been entered correctly. If the problem persists, we will be happy to see you at the branch to help you activate your account with Banco Sabadell.

I have not received the password to validate my mobile phone number in the registration process for the Sabadell Online Self-Employed Account

Make sure you have entered your mobile phone number correctly. Try again and wait a few minutes, as sometimes the message can take a while.
